This person will be responsible for assisting with efforts to advance the company's position in the Texas market at the local, state and federal levels. The candidate will also be responsible for designing and administering an aggressive campaign to raise money for NRG's political action committee (NRG PAC). The position further will be responsible for coordinating political contributions and producing NRG PAC hosted political events.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain a client-oriented mind set for various constituencies including elected officials, NRG business units and NRG PAC members
- Develop and implement a biennial fundraising, marketing and communications plan, including strategies, tactics, goals/benchmarks, and budget focused on retaining and increasing contributions from current donors and expanding the number of donors to NRG PAC.
- Regularly work with business leadership on PAC fundraising campaign.
- Present updates to NRG PAC board of directors and CEO on PAC activities and benchmarks
- Work with internal communications to provide frequent communications to PAC contributors regarding political and legislative activities including election updates, voter guides, political events, civic engagement and commemorative messages.
- Work with the rest of the government affairs team to prepare contributions.
- Ensure that NRG PAC is complying with all Federal requirements relative to political action committees.
- Work to maintain and build relationships with elected officials, their staff and key stakeholders
- Represent NRG at political and sponsored events across Texas with an emphasis on local events in Houston.
- Assist with strategic advocacy of company positions at the local, state and federal levels
- Assist with developing and executing interim strategy to prepare for the legislative session in Texas
Working Conditions:
- Must be willing to travel and in some instances, attend evening events.
- Must be accustomed to a fast-paced environment and be adaptive to change
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of demonstrated experience successfully building and implementing a PAC program with knowledge of state and federal PAC compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of local, state and federal government
- Working knowledge of legislative advocacy

- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Ability to compile data into user friendly format
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
