Operate a variety of meter data head end software applications to process and monitor AMI device error reports. Clarify problem areas with supervisor, as appropriate. Perform printing, receipting, filing, updating and submissions of AMI device error reports, as required.

General Accountabilities

  • Operate and apply a variety of software applications in order to produce documents, spreadsheets, presentations and flowcharts, tables and organizational charts. Perform text and object manipulation using the applications of sorting, moving, merging, segmenting and scanning. Produce lengthy numeric tables and flowcharts that involve detailed and/or specialized set-ups.
  • Revise Documentation System Documents, as instructed, using control procedures in the document creation, revision, deletion and documentation classification. Ensure that proper standards and procedures are followed in production.
  • Perform daily verification routines on AMI devices and head-end systems and update/edit, as required (e.g. data files, error logs and reports).
  • Assist in the development/revision of processes, tools and procedures documents, as required.
  • Prepare correspondence from information received through inquiries and trouble calls related to customer billing (e.g. meter reads, change meters, meter multiplier, etc.) ensuring grammatically correct and accurate.   Provide information to personnel on AMI device error reports in accordance to established procedures. Initiate inquiries and open service notifications on AMI devices.
  • Process AMI device exceptions; follow up with internal and external support groups on the status of exceptions and ticket resolutions.
  • Work with internal and external customers regarding details on customer service issues and inquiries including the commissioning of AMI devices and commencement of meter data collection.  Respond to incoming phone inquiries from internal customers.  Contact internal customers as required.
  • Assist in the resolution of AMI device exceptions using established procedures, practices and operational tools.
  • Record and resolve AMI device exceptions, according to established procedures for reference and control of work to ensure negotiated service level agreements are met. Input AMI device trouble into systems.  Participate in coordination of materials required for AMI device installations.  Follow up and ensure actions are complete and resolved the issue.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintain filing system and systems of record; support the configuration of users to the AMCC in accordance to established procedures.
  • Test and verify the end to end communication paths for data errors using the tools of the AMI network component and the head-ends systems prior to commissioning of AMI device installations and commencement of data collection.
  • Participate in the change management process including the configuring and provisioning for commissioning and decommissioning of AMI devices to or from the system in accordance to established procedures.
  • Update and maintain network component assets, configuration database and network map in accordance to established procedures.
  • Collect metering data from metering installations and synchronize meter clock times to specifications set forth in the Meter Data Management and Repository (MDM/R).
  • Apply substitution routines, or perform data estimation or edits on meter data. Review erroneous outputs, error messages and exceptions to establish the reason for the problem and perform corrective action.
  • Multitasking between numerous systems and software.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing on AMI related systems and processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria & Essential Competencies:

  • Requires knowledge of computer technology to operate various applications associated with personal computers, scanners and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English language to prepare correspondences, reports, procedures, documentation and to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Requires working knowledge of MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), SAP and SharePoint.
  • Requires experience in the management and maintenance of record systems and office practices to produce reports and to handle and review routine inquiries and correspondence.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of Grade XII in a Secondary, Commercial or Technical School or by having the equivalent level of education.
  • Experience related to the collection of data using Advance Metering Infrastructure equipment and head end systems would be an asset.
  • A period of up to three years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
