Job Summary

This position will be located in the South Operation of Southeast Division. It will initially be headquartered in Headland, however experience in other districts in the South Operation will be encouraged over time. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all day to day work activities of an assigned territory. The primary job duty will be preparation of work estimates to provide service to new customers and to maintain and improve the electrical distribution system. There will be opportunities for engineering major projects such as roadway relocations, budget items, reliability projects, subdivisions and commercial or industrial projects. Duties will also include investigating and resolving customer electric service issues by working with the Service and Line Departments. Superior customer service will be expected from the successful candidate. The candidate will also be expected to be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, or out-of-state trouble and storm response and will provide general leadership and coordination during storm restoration efforts. The candidate filling this position is expected to fulfill a leadership role with regards to safety.

Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • BS Degree, or higher, in Engineering is required

Experience Requirements:

  • Utility-related electrical distribution experience is preferred
  • Successful candidate must be a proven leader in a team environment
  • Previous experience in service restoration is preferred
  • Experience with using APC Power Delivery engineering computer applications is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of NEC and NESC is preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution coordination schemes is preferred
  • Ability to apply sound engineering practices in providing reliable, economic and timely electric service to our customers, required with proper time and experience
  • Ability to make sound engineering decisions during emergency situations, required with proper time and experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply, or the ability to quickly learn and apply, APCO safety and health rules
  • Must be available to work outside of normal duty hours to provide leadership and support to operating personnel in restoring electric service to customers both on and off system
