Duties:
- As a member of the Technology Business Management team, this position is responsible for developing, implementing and operating a Software Asset Management (SAM) program to optimize the value of software assets within the BC Hydro environment.
- Working with stakeholders in Technology Planning, Operations and Business Management, this role will be instrumental in building strong oversight and management of a software asset portfolio in excess of $100M, with annual expenditures in excess of $20M.
- The role will also rely on building relationships across external suppliers and internal service providers, to align software entitlements, deployments, and use rights to meet the needs of the business. Works with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders at all levels to identify, define and manage the Software Asset Management Program, ensuring alignment of software entitlements and deployments to meet business needs.
- Defines roadmap and Program plan to progress the evolution of the Software Asset Management program, including development of business cases where investment is required. Ensures informed decision-making between application and infrastructure teams, facilitating architectural and licensing decisions which meet contract requirements and optimize overall cost of ownership.
- Leads development of Software Asset Management processes, incorporating input from stakeholders including Technology Planning, Operations and Business Partner Services, to ensure consistent Software Asset Management practices.
- Establishes plans, coordinates resources (financial, technical, people) and sets schedules and timelines for definition and implementation of Software Asset Management processes.
- Gathers and provides expert analysis and reporting of the Software Asset portfolio to Technology leadership, ensuring consistency and accuracy of the information provided, and using the information to recommend forward-looking action plans.
- Conducts on-going research and analysis of trends impacting Software Asset Management, including changes to practices relating to licensing models, audits and pricing.
- Through analysis of market trends coupled with business understanding, identifies and recommends opportunities for continual improvement across BC Hydro's software portfolio.
- Leads BC Hydro response to audits initiated by software publishers, establishing defense strategies and leading crossfunctional teams to ensure timely, coordinated response to audit requirements.
