As the C&M Technician I, you will perform company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems.
Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Installs, repairs or replaces steel and plastic pipe.
- Provides First Responder assistance in emergency situations.
- Locates gas lines.
- Loads and unloads required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truck.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or GED.
No prior work experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Able to use a variety of hand tools and power tools including picks, shovels, sharp-shooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.
Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods
Able to reach, grasp and move items.
Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Able to stand, walk, stoop, knee, or crouch for extended periods of time.
Able to operate a motor vehicle and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
Able to wear personal protection safety equipment, such as safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, and/or earplugs on a daily basis.
Able to exert routine physical effort on daily basis.
Working Conditions:
Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.
Able to work regular hours, with occasional overtime as business needs.
Able to work rotating shifts, if required.
Able to work in both an office environment and outside field locations including able to tolerate exposure to all weather conditions.
Able to travel as needed occasionally, possibly overnight.
Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmosphere.
Able to respond to emergency calls and/or call-outs and occasionally return to work while off duty.
Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and/or DOT safety sensitive positions.
Able to pass written portion of commercial driver's license (CDL) test within 12 months and attain complete CDL with 24 months.
Able to obtain company plastic welding certification within 12 months and company Arc or Oxygen-Acetylene welding certification within 24 months.
