AltaGas is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated individual to join our engineering team.
Located full time at the Edmonton Ethane Extraction Plant (EEEP), this position is responsible for supporting operations, maintenance and performance of the Edmonton and Joffre (JEEP) facilities, as well as troubleshooting operational problems.
What you'll be doing:
- Participate in the Safety Program at EEEP and JEEP and provide support on the technical aspects of safety
- Support Operations and Maintenance by pursuing opportunities to optimize the performance of the facilities, as well as troubleshoot operational problems
- Continually review and improve plant processes
- Participate in reviews, updates, and corrective actions derived from multi-discipline risk assessments (ex: HAZOP Studies and Shutdown Key Reviews)
- Provide technical and professional guidance in the planning and execution of Management of Change (MOC) projects
- Lead project planning, prioritization, and annual capital budget development
- Provide technical evaluation of potential business development opportunities
- Work with regulators and internal departments to ensure compliance to government regulations.
- Provide project management oversight for small projects
- Provide oversight and management of consultants as required
- Provide technical support for commissioning and start-up activities
- Professional authentication of documents, when appropriate, for professional engineering work which is self-performed by the company
What you must have:
- Engineering degree (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum)
- 4 - 7 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, operational experience a plus
- Professional Engineer (AB) designation or EIT status
- Working knowledge of AMSE, CSA, AER, OH&S, and relevant technical standards
- Concentration in process engineering or process controls engineering is considered an asset
- Hysys 7.3 simulation capability is considered an asset
Where you'll be working:
The Edmonton Ethane Extraction Plant (EEEP) is located within the city limits in south Edmonton, Alberta. EEEP is a gas extraction straddle plant with a gross production capacity of 23,000 Bbls/d of specification ethane and 7,500 Bbls/d of natural gas liquids (NGLs). It is connected to several pipeline systems, which provides the opportunity for valuable liquids such as ethane, propane, and butane to be processed for commercial and industrial use. The Joffre Ethane Extraction Plant (JEEP) is 100 percent owned and operated by AltaGas. Located in Joffre, Alberta, JEEP has the processing capacity of 250 Mmcf/d of natural gas and is capable of producing up to 10,400 Bbls/d of ethane and natural gas liquids. The JEEP facility's strategic location provides the opportunity for valuable liquids to be processed for commercial and industrial users as well as to end-use markets in the city of Edmonton.
