This position will have key responsibilities for effectively providing assistance to end users across the Company in support of the commitment to provide superior timely solutions for a wide range of user needs related to the COOL Compliance application. The successful candidate should possess effective analytical skills, a strong problem-solving acumen, and the ability to offer creative solutions to meet evolving business needs. The position will support the COOL Compliance development and release process through their execution of application testing processes to deliver successful releases on time and with no impact to the business. The ability to serve as a liaison in translating business needs into technical solutions or guidance and vice-versa will play a significant factor in the success of the role.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, General Business, Information Technology, or related discipline is required.
- Previous experience in an application support or compliance related role preferred.
- Previous experience providing cross-functional coordination desired.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of internal controls, applications, and associated support processes preferred.
- Previous experience and demonstrated versatility to balance project-oriented assignments with daily support tasks, with an equal focus on results.
- Ability to influence decision making and work effort outside of formal reporting relationships.
- Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, to be able to engage, build credibility, and maintain strong relationships with SSS management, IT management, and partners in the business.
- Proven proficiency in acting as liaison between technical and non-technical resources from both a tactical and strategic perspective.
- Ability to quickly comprehend and articulate complex technical issues a plus.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with aptitude to base decision making with considerations of both strategic and tactical implications.
- Ability to make timely, effective decisions with appropriate consideration of facts, application constraints, stakeholder impacts, and enterprise-wide strategies/goals.
- Robust understanding of application development, testing, and delivery practices preferred.
- Capability to create and deliver effective application testing methods and processes.
- Understanding and/or experience in one or more application support processes and methodologies a plus.
- Overall knowledge of the major functional areas of Southern Company.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance and consultation to end users of all levels in effectively leveraging COOL Compliance to meet business needs.
- Resolve questions and issues reported by end users across Southern Company. Items may include "how to's" and/or application issues.
- Solicit feedback from key user groups regarding proposed major application changes.
- Conduct training sessions to increase application proficiency of end users in support of continuation of COOL Compliance as a self-service tool.
- Assist in identification and mitigation of key risks to the application.
- Assist with development of formal test plans to ensure that application responds as expected following each release.
- Support the expanded use of the COOL Compliance application by developing documentation aimed at creating awareness and encouraging adoption to manage existing and new business needs.
- Track, analyze, and respond to key metrics to promote efficiencies and other application improvements.
- Assume responsibility for maintenance and development of end-user application "Help" documentation.
- Provide decision-making insight and guidance towards the governance of the COOL Compliance application.
- Support effective and timely execution of defined development deliverables to meet business needs.
- Define, compile, and prioritize technical changes for COOL Compliance application.
- Coordinate COOL Compliance implementation of organization changes.
- Assess reorganization impacts to end user access and make recommendations to ensure successful implementations with minimal user impacts.
- Support special projects as needed requiring COOL Compliance entities, functionality, interfaces, etc.
