Retail Sales Consultant role is responsible for facilitating customer purchases within the Retail Sales Division of Alabama Power Company. Responsible for execution of determined sales strategies, promotions, merchandise presentations, and product education to customers. Working with Retail Support around growing sales and securing resources, as well as working with the Buyers and Regional Sales Managers to help ensure the best product assortment based on what customers are wishing to purchase. Supporting and selling products and services through SmartNeighbor.com, and partnering with other areas in the company in support of initiatives for customers, such as water heater conversion programs, business sales leads, etc. Continual product selling actions and activities to all customers coming into our Alabama Power offices, as well as online, to drive top line sales and net income for Alabama Power Company.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with customers to sell merchandise in line with exceeding established sales goals. Assisting customers with product selection and questions about the merchandise we sell to ensure customers are satisfied. Work with RSM to execute both local and company-wide sales initiates and awareness campaigns
- Complete and maintain sales paperwork and administrative documents associated with the selling process; including sales order completion and retention, credit application files, protection plan documentation, etc.
- Maintain high store standards on the sales floor, in back rooms and within Alabama Power facilities, while working with Leadership and the Distribution Center to manage and maintain inventory flows
- Establish and maintain open line of communication and execution expectation conversations with Retail Sales Manager, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy. Participate in weekly Sales conference calls, company conference calls, and occasional travel in relation to the role, including but not limited to - Quarterly Division Meetings, and the Yearly Annual Meeting, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- H.S. diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
Experience
- 3-5 years of prior retail experience desired, with experience including direct sales to customers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess a high Sense of Urgency, and an understanding of the Speed of Retail is required
- Ability and experience as a trusted salesperson in a selling environment
- Experience with retail execution, sales planning, replenishment and merchandise flow
- Experience with merchandise presentation, driving item sales and walking customers through differences between specific merchandise and brands.
- Understanding of sales and net income action plans, & delivering execution that will impact change
- Communication skills including strong abilities for listening to, communicating to, and understanding of customer expectations required.
- Experience with leveraging selling skills to help meet customer needs and expectations
- Understanding of Inventory Control and facilitation of monthly cycle counts to control assets
- Basic understanding of written and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite tools required.
- Experience with understanding customer traffic trends and competition activities required
- Experience with de-escalating customer situations a must and negotiation skills are required
- Required to maintain current and relevant product knowledge of the products that are sold
- Coordinate with delivery contractors and customers to move merchandise / ensure merchandise is accounted for - to fulfill customer's orders
