What you will be doing
As a Dispatcher you will be responsible for monitoring, dispatching and load balancing work orders to field personnel to utilize field resources safely and efficiently. You will also monitors requests for information and provide the communication link between customer service representatives and field personnel.
- Monitor daily scheduled orders and daily scheduled field technician resources to optimize the completion of scheduled orders within the appointment time with the proper technician to assure customer satisfaction.
- Answer the telephone and perform call-ahead requests for field technicians.
- Route work to service technicians by dispatching work orders via Mobile Data and other applicable systems
- Receive and dispatch emergency calls, emergency locates and customer complaints while ensuring that company procedures are followed.
- Prioritize work orders.
- Act as liaison between the company, customers, and state and local government agencies in an emergency situation.
- Monitor condition and status of dispatched emergency orders, initiates and implements Business Continuity Plan in accordance with CenterPoint Energy Emergency Plan to ensure the safety of employees, general public, and property, and to ensure the most expedient and efficient possible response to all emergency situations.
- Monitor and maintain communications network to assure high performance delivery system.
- Implement Business Continuity Plan when necessary.
What you bring: Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year experience supporting utility distribution operations or one (1) year of dispatching experience
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing and reviewing documents and spreadsheets
- Able to reach, grasp and move items
- Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of daily pressure, while meeting deadlines
- Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary to meet needs of business
- Able to work indoors in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office
- Able to be "on call" and respond accordingly in the event of emergency situations
