Job Description:
The Stations Engineering department is responsible for the production of Engineering drawings and specifications for the construction of new and refurbished transmission and distribution station work. Design activities include station arrangement, grounding analysis and design, AC and DC station service design, arc flash studies, rigid and strain bus analysis.
Your job duties may include:
Support to senior Engineers within the Stations department on a variety of engineering assignments related to transmission station or distribution station design including information gathering, work scope development, revision of station drawings, application of Hydro One and industry standards, and material and equipment selection/review. The position is based in head office but will involve contact with stations field staff across the province.
This job will provide you with the following professional development:
Exposure to a wide range of station engineering issues, both at the transmission and the distribution level. Opportunities to interact with other engineers from multiple disciplines and departments, field staff, construction forces, and vendors for distribution and transmission line material and equipment.
The following knowledge is essential in order to perform the job:
- Understanding of general electrical engineering principles, safety practices, industry regulations and national/international utility standards.
- Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office suit of software and other general purpose software such as Adobe Acrobat, Visio etc.
Selection Criteria:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering/Applied Science, Engineering & Management
- Specialization or experience with power systems preferred
