Department Overview
PG&E's Transportation Services team is responsible for operating one of the top 20 largest commercial and top 3 largest utility fleets in the U.S. Management responsibilities cover all aspects of PG&E's owned and rental vehicles & equipment fleet, from design to disposition. The team is comprised of multiple operating departments including Field Operations, Engineering and Business Strategy and Analytics. Operating departments within Transportation Services are responsible for enterprise-wide management of over 13,500+ vehicles & equipment, regulatory and preventative maintenance compliance, expense & capital planning, budget and asset optimization, fuel procurement, clean air and alternate fuel initiatives.
Position Summary
The expert telematics lead is responsible for program management, implementation planning & execution, data analysis, dashboard development, reporting in support of business decision making. The expert lead will also be responsible for business process improvement, quality control, special projects and other adhoc initiatives associated with telematics and asset optimization.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and enhance enterprise Telematics Program which includes 13,500+ assets
- Partners with operating departments and vendor to establish and deploy reporting to leverage operational efficiencies
- Evaluates large data sets, identifies opportunities, establishes control reporting to optimize
- Provides daily field support for technical, software, application and hardware issues for telematics program
- Lead telematic implementation projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources, issues and on-time execution
- Complex telematics application and hardware root cause and issue resolution experience.
- Effectively coordinate, monitor and manage installation progress and schedule (phone calls, emails, etc.) to ensure installations are completed per the schedule.
- Test new telematic hardware, firmware, software and related applications to perform QA/QC
- Lead and partner with vendor and internal operating departments to identify and resolve escalated issues and/or promptly close gaps
- Develop and implement 3-year strategic telematics program, with input from the Corporate stakeholders, operators and operating committees.
- Serves as relationship manager and single point of contact for telematics vendor
