QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a basic knowledge of electrical circuitry and metering installations. Must work in inclement weather and from any operating center on such days and hours as required. Must be neat and clean and wear Company uniforms. Must be capable of conversing with customers in a courteous and intelligent manner. All other general qualifications such as physical fitness, attendance, safety and performance records will be considered.
Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related training or experience.
Knowledge of streets and roads in the Company's service area. Knowledge of the various types of self-contained meters used by the Company. Experience in meter reading and associated functions. Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to do the job.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Performs work incidental to installing, removing and maintaining meters of all standard secondary voltages and types of service supplying loads up to and including 400 amperes.
Performs duties such as:
1. Installing removing and replacing self-contained single phase and poly phase meters on 400 ampere services and below;
2. Inspecting wiring and metering facilities for compliance with Company rules and regulations and the rules of other authoritative electrical inspectors, before placing a new installation in service;
3. Keeping accurate daily records of meters installed and related work as required;
4. Making special meter readings for customer billings;
5. Executing disconnect, connect and reconnect special orders;
6. Coordinating work with customers, electricians, et al.; assisting supervisor to train, teach and instruct employees of lower classifications in the safe and efficient execution of this type of work; and
7. In emergencies, performing other work, exclusive of pole work, to restore electric service.
In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require.
Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.
