Please Note: 1) this position can be located anywhere within the lower 48 contiguous states and 2) requires 100% travel.
This position will provide lead support on the Large Corrective team. This includes but is not limited to:
Large Correctives for a diverse Wind Fleet
· Leads crews of technicians to complete required duties in safe and efficient manner.
· Communicates and coordinates with customers, vendors and other contractors on site.
· Directs multi-crane lifts.
o Trains and mentors employees as directed by managers
o Acts as a subject matter expert on specific technology or equipment
o Reviews, writes, and provides one level of approval for technical procedures as directed by manager.
o Participates in root cause analysis as directed by manager.
o Participates in technology specific group meetings as required.
o Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in a timely manner.
o Develop equipment specific LOTO instructions as directed by manager.
o The travel schedule will consist of approximately 4 week rotations with up to 9 days of R&R time at home between rotations. This is a continual cycle.
Compliance & Administrative Record Maintenance
EH&S Documentation including DOT compliance
Complete necessary paperwork (contributes to lift plans, work orders, timesheets, tool and PPE inventories, and additional paperwork as necessary)
Assisting Management
Assist management (as needed) with logistics, kick offs of projects, administrative tasks, review of work orders and job observations.
Minimum Qualifications
Two year associates degree or technical school certificate with a minimum of 4 years of directly related work experience; or minimum of 3 years of technical experience with Duke Energy as a Wind Technician or a Minimum of 6 years of directly related work experience with a HS Diploma
Valid driver's license
The ability to climb turbine towers (up to 300ft) daily is a requirement of this position; Ability to complete senior wind technician job performance measures within 1 year
Desired Qualifications
Additional years of wind turbine experience is strongly preferred
Experience rigging, signaling and working with cranes and other heavy equipment.
Experience with multiple wind turbine OEM's and multiple tasks - replacement of blades, bearings, gearboxes, generators, main bearings and transformers.
Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
Experience with extensive travel for work
