Description
The Safety and Health Coordinator provides safety leadership, technical expertise, project management and support to business units within Alabama Power. Assist in the successful implementation of the Alabama Power Safety and Health Management System to include providing safety leadership in areas such as, but not limited to, critical risk management, risk analysis, event learnings, etc.
Overall this position will facilitate development and implementation of safety and health strategies, policies, programs, initiatives and action plans to assure the continuation of a safe work environment within Alabama Power.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the subject matter expert for fall protection and electrical safety processes for APC.
- Serve as the APC project manager for developing and implementing fall protection and electrical safety processes and procedures across APC.
- Partner with the Safety & Health staff to implement requirements of new regulations or revisions to existing regulations.
- Represent Alabama Power on internal committees and external industry groups.
- Serve as subject matter expert in fall protection and electrical safety and assist in performing audits.
- Assist in the development and review of specifications for APC fall protection and electrical safety equipment.
Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Science, Engineering or related highly preferred
- CSP preferred
- Industrial safety experience with emphasis in critical risk areas to include fall protection and electrical safety is required
- Project management experience is required

- Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and work management software
