Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) has openings for full-time Temporary Credit & Collection Asst. Representatives in  our Cranford, N.J. Call Center. These positions entail interacting with customers on issues related to their gas and electric service. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to handle customer contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner, with specific focus on demonstrating empathy with each customer interaction.


Performs work in the Customer Inquiry Center attendant to the proper interviewing or handling inquires of customers by telephone Performs Collection and Credit work in connection with the interviewing of residential and commercial customers concerning collection, credit problems, the collection of unpaid accounts for gas and electric service, deposits and other related clerical work. Proficiently utilizes language(s) identified on specific job postings in the performance of the following duties:

1. Interview residential and commercial customers concerning collection and credit problems including, but limited to: discontinuance reminders and notices for delinquent energy, security deposits and sundry sales payment arrangements, shut-offs for non-payment, responsibility for charges and explaining related company policies and BPU Tariff regulations.

2. Complete various collection activities including, but limited to: the examination of residential and commercial accounts previously shut-off for non-payment, active and broken payment arrangements, security deposit requests
3. Generate orders, reports, etc., necessary in connection with assigned work, such as active orders, inactive orders and other work related to Inbound Collection calls
4. Perform other similar or less skilled related work related to the Collection Call Center, as directed.

Location: This position will initially be located out of our Cranford, NJ.  However, by May 2019,  the main reporting location will be out of our Headquarters in Newark, NJ.
