Responsibilities include:

  • As an Energy Scheduler, you will be responsible for all scheduling processes, communication, and operation of merchant power facilities and interjurisdictional transactions across the northeast power markets; the team operates on a 12hr, 4/6 rotation which includes regular weekend/overnight shifts.

  • Ensuring accurate and efficient commercial operation, dispatch and outage management of ~2,500 MW's of merchant power generation in the Northeastern US/Canadian energy, ancillary and capacity markets within strict market deadlines.

  • Maintain a superior understanding of the Northeast Power and Gas markets with an emphasis on the commercial operation and scheduling of assets under management, associated market rules, regulatory and compliance obligations.

  • Work with Asset Management team to help identify and implement commercial strategies to manage risk and maximize earnings for Assets.

  • Purchase and nominate natural gas to generators on several pipelines, evaluate commercial opportunities to optimize fuel position.

  • Scheduling and management of load aggregation services as well as intertie and wheel through energy schedules.

  • Assessing market fundamentals and indicators in the near term to support strategic directives and decision making for facilities under management and proprietary power positions. 

  • Record energy transaction details in various settlement and reconciliation systems.

  • Supporting a variety of projects with an emphasis on market research, data collection and analysis related to Northeast power markets.

  • You will be responsible for your personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction, by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience: 

The successful candidate possesses an undergraduate degree in a business related field and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. 

Also required are: strong communication skills, exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail for problem-solving, independent decision making with the ability to contribute as a member of a rotational team. You must be an entrepreneurial thinker who has a superior ability to prioritize and multi task in a dynamic, fast paced environment driven by hourly deadlines.

Reporting to: Director, Commercial Power Operations
