POSITION OVERVIEW
The Generation and Interchange (G&I) Operator performs the Generation dispatch, scheduling, and transmission service functions for the MISO. The G&I operator is responsible for generation dispatch functions for the MISO market, processing Transmission Service requests through Open Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS), and processing Interchange Scheduling requests according to the Open Access Transmission, Energy and Operating Reserve Markets Tariff and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The G&I Operator performs these duties via various Control Room tools, procedures and processes. Interaction with intra-MISO Control Centers and System Operators as well as external Balancing Authority Areas, MISO Market Participants and others is vital to success.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide 24X7 real-time operations support in accordance with the MISO Energy and Operating Reserves Market Tariff, associated Business Practice Manuals (BPM), and all currently approved processes and procedures.
- Interact with market participants, market operations, and reliability coordinators to resolve generation, Interchange Scheduling, and OASIS issues.
- Perform before the fact, hourly, and end of day interchange checkouts.
- Evaluate and process transmission service requests.
- Communicate system-wide conditions to the Shift Manager (SM) and other appropriate Control Room personnel.
- Communicate with Local Balancing Authorities (LBA), Market Participants (MP) and Generation Operators (GOP) regarding the status of generation units and their Real-time Offers.
- Monitor generation conditions and coordinate changes in Generation Offers with the Unit Commitment and Dispatch Operator(s) (UC&D).
- Monitor Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) solutions and MP adherence to Setpoint instructions for Energy and Contingency Reserves in co-optimized market solution. Review and correct problems with Setpoint Instructions provided to Generating Resources.
- Coordinate with the RC to determine special operating requirements and ensure proper dispatching of generation to relieve binding constraints. Initiate actions as directed by the SM resulting from changing system conditions, such as Energy Emergency Alerts (EEA) and Emergency Max and Min conditions.
- Proactively analyze system events to identify possible system issues.
- Perform detailed quantitative analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Economics, Business, or related field preferred
- Education equivalency may be established with a combination of education, training, certifications, and extensive, directly related experience within the Power Industry
- NERC Certification required, or must be able to obtain NERC Certification within six months of employment. Reliability Operator Certification, required.
- Successful completion of Generation & interchange Certification Board exam, required
- At least four years of related Engineering, Business, or related technical field experience (required)
- Previous energy industry experience (preferred)
- Ability to work rotating shift schedule with 2-hour shifts, as assigned, and be available on-call to support a 24x7 operation
- Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge
