Position Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the CPS Energy distribution system. This position requires a high degree of focus, accountability, and unscheduled overtime. This position is expected to be available and work during emergency conditions as needed.
GRADE 14 - Deadline to apply is February 22, 2019.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the CPS Energy distribution system.
- Records outage restoration during normal and emergency conditions.
- Dispatches emergency gas orders.
- Recommends operational improvements and communicates system events to appropriate personnel.
- Operates Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Management System (DMS), Distribution Automated devices, GIS Mapping System, Outage Management System as well as radio and telephone systems.
- Analyzes and acts promptly in case of system disturbances ensuring systems to be restored to normal state.
- Provides technical analysis, monitors system conditions, schedules and authorizes distribution equipment outages and loads transfers.
- Prepares, coordinates, executes and releases switching procedures and clearances for the distribution system, including circuit breakers in station.
- Assigns and directs switching activities and work assignments to trouble crews and switching personnel.
- Monitors weather conditions and coordinates staffing requirements by calling additional resources to handle emergencies.
- Attends training classes for Distribution Coordination, Black Start Planning and Voltage Control Planning.
- Answers two-way radios on different channels.
- Answers emergency call requesting EMS or Police for vehicle accident or electrocution, following by immediate notification to Department Supervisors, and Nurse Department and Safety Department.
- Creates and dispatches Emergency Trouble Orders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
