About the Position
Ameren Missouri is part of St. Louis-based Ameren Corporation, generating almost 10,200 megawatts and serving 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri, including 130,000 natural gas customers. Our 4,000 employees account for more than one third of Ameren's 8,500 total workforce and our service area covers 63 counties and more than 500 towns, including the greater St. Louis area.
Key responsibilities include:
Under direct, indirect or intermittent supervision and working on a rotating shift schedule or day schedule as required, to do a general range of highly skilled electric arc, gas welding and curring, brazing, pipefitting and insulation installation and/or removal on all varieties of power plant equipment, and to do similar and less skilled work as required.
Work includes a general range of highly skilled electric and gas welding brazing and cutting on boiler pressure parts, pressure vessels, and piping in accordance with the applicable ASME codes and which are subject to insurance underwriters inspection and certification
Perform other maintenance work on heavy mechanical equipment such as repair or replacement of leaking or weakened boiler tubes; structural steel erection; replacement of liner plates in fans, coal chutes and hoppers; welding repairs to castings and equipment; fitting and welding of all sizes of piping and valves, including items such as measuring, laying out, cutting, threading, bending, fitting and installation of pipe and tubing, replacement of flange, valve, and heater gaskets; valve repacking, repair and overhaul; cleaning and replacement of condenser and heat exchanger tubes; where applicable, the repair of traveling water screens.
Immediate responsibility at times for the working direction of an apprentice.
Qualifications:
- Qualification standards as established in the Apprenticeship Program. In event no graduating apprentice is available.
- Must satisfy requirements as prescribed in the Supplementary Agreement on Uniform Practices Regarding Promotion to Repairman (Certified) Jobs.
- Must be accurate, steady and calm in emergencies; possess normal physical strength and endurance.
- Must pass prescribed welder qualification tests in accordance with the requirements of Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
