Position Purpose
This position is responsible for technical oversight and leadership of the Transmission asset management group which includes Cascade and Powerbase administration, LOAD facility ratings, Construction, Maintenance, Protection and Control engineering support, asset data management. Optimizing asset maintenance programs, and identification and prioritization of capital projects to ensure overall reliability of the Transmission system. Includes leadership and direct supervision of employees as well as contractor oversight.
Required Education & Experience
B.S. (or advanced) Degree in Engineering plus eight or more years of experience; comprehensive knowledge of electrical equipment found in substations (i.e. transformers, breakers, and relays), maintenance, and testing procedures

Job Description
- Leads transmission asset optimization strategies for substation assets
- Oversees Cascade and Powerbase administration and ensures best practices and consistent utilization of systems across the transmission and distribution organizations.
- Implements and maintains effective preventive maintenance schedules and reporting mechanisms.
- Identifies and implements transmission and distribution asset maintenance strategies including development of standards and procedures.
- Ensures availability of effective field technical support for substation crews.
- Monitors system performance and routine test data to ensure that operations are within acceptable limits.Analyzes equipment failure trends and develops strategies to mitigate risks.Performs root cause analysis for significant events and makes follow-up recommendations.
- This includes field visits as required.
- Evaluates service advisories provided by manufacturers and makes follow-up recommendations.
- Organizes and provides direction for cross-functional work groups during system restoration efforts.Analyzes and makes recommendations for capital replacement strategies to address equipment with high failure rates or that is not easily maintained.
- Develops and manages a five year business plan to address business needs, schedules, and funding related to problematic equipment across the transmission and distribution systems.
- Evaluates spares strategies and ensures effective availability of backup service equipment.
- Provides technical guidance and support to other engineers, P&C, and maintenance personnel regarding equipment specifications, testing requirements and schedules, equipment replacement strategies, and other field issues.Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggest improved methods.
- Performs and/or oversees studies that support and develop the implementation of major capital investments.Provides leadership and directs the activities of engineers, and other exempt and/or non-exempt employees, including job assignments, performance management, training, development, etc.
- Develops and leads improvement initiatives within the department
- Develops employees by providing coaching, career counseling and developmental opportunitiesDevelops and review employee's performance evaluations.
- Take an active role in managing and/or improving employee performance.Ensures compliance with Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
Work Conditions
Routinely works in energized electrical substations. Routine exposures to adverse working conditions including heat, cold, dust, etc.
Physical Effort
Standing, walking, and some climbing required.
