Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Birmingham Division Area Investigator, in performing the duties of the department, specifically in the area of current diversion. This includes assisting with all related investigations; special projects; security training; security surveys and assessments; and other support duties as required. This position will serve as backup for the Birmingham Division Area Investigator in their absence and will provide security services support in other areas of the Company as required.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Conduct and assist with current diversion investigations
- Obtain criminal warrants and successfully prosecute offenders
- Prepare concise written reports to management and for court use and testimony
- Enter and maintain up to date computer case records in the Case Management System (CMS)
- Coordinate and assist with special projects and events for Corporate Security
- Assist with the presentation of security/personal safety programs, public safety awareness, and other training programs
- Develop and maintain liaison with local law enforcement agencies, company personnel (particularly division Customer Service Inspectors), and other resources
- Participate in job related professional organizations
- Assist with the implementation of plans for storms, heightened security, and other emergency situations
Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply:
Education
- Bachelor of Science or higher-level college degree in a criminal justice or related field preferred
Experience
- Considerable knowledge and/or experience in civil and criminal law, investigative and interviewing techniques, crime scene inspection, rules of evidence, and techniques of physical surveillance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have the ability to testify in court
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work assignments and other work products
- Ability to coordinate current diversion investigations with division accounting and the division customer service inspectors
- Ability to conduct timely investigations with written reports and prosecution of subjects as required
- Possess above average computer skills (including typing)
- Photographic skills
- Analytical skills
- Above average oral and written communications skills
- Customer relations and interpersonal skills are a must
- Must be of high integrity and moral character placing Target Zero first
Other Requirements
- Must be available for travel and call-out on weekend and night work related to investigations and other Corporate Security activities.
- Must have the ability to legally carry a firearm
- Due to the level of risk involved in this role the successful candidate MUST pass a thorough background check, drug screen, phycological exam and qualify in a firearm assessment
- Successful candidate MUST meet Insider Threat Program requirements
