The Business Change Leader will be a key part of the business team, be responsible for leading the business aspects of IT changes, and be accountable for delivering on the business priorities. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to work across multiple functional and technology areas, including, customer operations, online marketing, product management, and IT development. Responsibilities include ensuring that 1) we are spending our time and effort on the right projects, 2) the projects are appropriately prioritized, 3) business requirements are complete and clear to ensure delivery of desired results on the first try, 4) IT projects are reliably unit tested and regression tested to limit defects, and 5) the functional teams impacted are aware and prepared for IT changes. The Business Change Leader will get exposure across the entire Business, taking ideas from inception through implementation. The successful candidate will love a good challenge, enjoy working on a variety of different tasks, and relish learning new things to grow their skill-set.
Responsibilities:
- Study and learn the existing interfaces (e.g., website, sales agent portal) and their connections to other systems and data sources
- Demand management - host weekly iteration planning meetings for the heads of Marketing, Operations, Pricing & Analytics, and IT to discuss and prioritize projects / stories in the next 1-2 iterations
- Prepare an agenda for the meeting
- Drive the rationalization and prioritization discussions
- Ensure that IT receives complete business requirements for each story; when this is not the case, either write the business requirements or work directly with a functional expert to resolve the situation
- Work with IT to assign an appropriate level of effort (number of points) to each story; use these points and prioritization to fill each iteration to capacity
- Incorporate business unit preparedness to accept the IT changes into the assigning of stories to iterations
- Develop project plans and project schedules including pre-and-post-production activities and testing
- Lead a meeting with the 4Change leadership team to present the proposed content for the next 1-2 iterations; incorporate feedback and adjust project plans accordingly
- Monitor execution of iterations; drive appropriate mitigation steps when deviating from plans; communicate project status to stakeholders
- Take the lead role on unit testing, confirming the outcome with the story owner and notating pass/fail appropriately in Rally / IT demand management software
- Coordinate, lead, and actively participate in pre- and post-production regression testing; document defects appropriately and track their resolution
- Balance business priorities against Technology Services delivery capabilities
- As needed on larger stories, facilitate "Technology Solutioning" sessions to identify cost effective options to meet business requests
- Support business case development where required
- Work in a highly collaborative manner to maintain an effective relationship across the 4Change Energy business units
Requirements:
- 2+ years minimum working with technology projects as a team member; leadership role preferred (project manager, business analyst, product owner, technical lead, QA Lead)
- Bachelor's degree
- Project Management (PMP or CSM) certification is a plus
- 2-5 years of experience using project management tools
- Exceptional meeting facilitation skills
- Excellent negotiating, consensus building and conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycles
- Familiarity with Project Management Process Groups and Knowledge Areas
- Advanced skill in using computer software applications such as MS Office products
- Excellent Project Management skills
- Skilled in developing process flows
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to manage cross enterprise initiatives with stakeholders from multiple departments
