Key responsibilities include:

Under direct, indirect, or intermittent supervision, and working on a rotating shift schedule or day schedule as required, to do a general range of plant mechanical equipment installation, repair and overhaul, including ability to perform skilled machinist work requiring tolerances as low as +.0005".  Immediate responsibility at times for working directions of an apprentice.

  • Mechanical equipment includes items such as turbines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, pulverizers, coal samplers, pulleys, overhead cranes, soot blowers, safety valves, blowers, power transmission equipment.
  • Work from drawings and sketches
  • Set up rigging and operate lifting equipment.
  • Erect and work from scaffolds.
  • Operate and/or use mobile equipment, shop equipment, portable power tools,other portable tools, hand tools and test equipment as required to accomplish assigned jobs.
  • Operate acetylene or other cutting/heating torches.
  • When necessary, check for explosive gases before operating torches.
  • Prepare reports of work done accompanied by sketches, if necessary; complete such forms as may be required.
  • Work alone or in combination with other Machinist Repairman or Repairman classifications when assigned.
  • Do similar and less skilled work as required.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification standards as established in the Apprenticeship Program. In event no graduating apprentice is available.
  • Must satisfy requirements as prescribed in the Supplementary Agreement on UniformPractices Regarding Promotion to Machinist Repairman Jobs.
  • Must be accurate, steady and calm in emergencies; possess normal physical strength and endurance; and have no color deficiency in vision.

  • We are currently recruiting for our Rush Island, Labadie and Sioux Energy Centers.
