Core Responsibilities

  • Con Edison Company of New York is driving energy efficiency savings and demand reductions across NYC and Westchester to help NYS meet its ambitious energy and environmental goals. The Data, Analytics & EE Applications Section Manager leads the Efficiency and Demand Management Department's (EEDM's) Data, Analytics, and EE Applications teams to help the Department achieve these goals. His or her organization is integral to enabling: more effective and lower cost customer acquisition; maximization of the value of demand side resources to the grid; Department and partner operational improvement and efficiency; and business strategy development.
  • Major responsibilities for the Section Manager's organization include exploring and validating new data sources; defining, architecting, implementing and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models; analyzing and mining data for valuable insights with ad hoc analytics and machine learning models; and working with Con Edison IT to develop and implement, applications integral to the Department's operations. The position also ensures that new and existing solutions adhere to EEDM and Con Edison IT architecture standards and that processes, controls, and governance are in place and followed to maintain data quality and security.
  • The role reports to the Department Manager of Strategy & Planning, and works closely with his or her colleagues across the EEDM management team.
  • Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Direct the department's Data, Analytics, and Applications teams.
  • Operationalize analytics throughout the Department. Help business partners structure problems, lead team to develop analytics and business intelligence solutions, and work with business to integrate insights and tools into strategy and execution.
  • Design, oversee implementation and integration, and manage enhancement and maintenance of portfolio of highly scalable database, analytics platform, and applications to meet the rapidly rising business needs of the Energy Efficiency and Demand Management Department.
  • Lead the development of database architecture artifacts including conceptual, logical and physical data models, and data dictionaries.
  • Research and recommend new software products as well as orchestrate technical innovations.
  • Partner with internal teams, Company IT and vendors to provide technical and thought leadership to develop and support effective data and analytics solutions.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends best practices
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems Management, Math or related field And 8 years relevant work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems Management, Math or related field; MBA 6 years relevant work experience
  • Data Science trainings or certifications courses

Required Work Experience

  • 5-7 years Experience in Information Technology Req
  • 2 years Data architecture experience, database or data warehouse design and management. Required
  • Demonstrated success working with business partners to structure problems and develop high-value data, analytics, and applications. Required
  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization Required
  • Experience gathering use cases, user stories, developing business and technical requirements and leading the development and implementation of software solutions, including software testing and delivery. Required
  • Familiarity with software development life cycles in IT/software development services and project management methodologies Required
  • Knowledge and experience in programming and technical skills in ERWin, Python, Microsoft SQL, PL/SQL Required
  • Working experience with ETL (Extract, Translate and Load) Required
  • Experience working with Big Data tools such as Hadoop Required
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and Reporting (OBIEE, QlikSense, Tableau) Required
  • Flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic environment Required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing cross functional teams of internal and external stakeholders Required
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive results by collaborating with stakeholders to build consensus Required
  • Proven range of presentation skills to various audiences Required
  • Strong writing and oral communications skills. Required
  • Experience in vendor oversight, including contract development, monitoring and assessing performance Required
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem solving skills

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
