Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
Pilots PG&E aircraft for the transportation of passengers and cargo to and from various destinations. Ensures all aircraft personnel and passengers are in adherence and compliance to all PG&E guidelines, FAA regulations, and federal, state, and local laws. Collaborates with the flight team to ensure compliance, safety, and cleanliness of an aircraft. Responds to and reports all in-flight emergencies and malfunctions. Conducts all required flight planning and inspects aircraft for defects and malfunctions.
Job Responsibilities
- Acts as the rank of a Junior/Senior Captain and pilot-in command within an aircraft.
- Assists with the development and revision of current aircraft operations specifications, standard operating procedures (SOP), user manuals, training guides, and other related documents.
- Documents and reports service issues and complaints from passengers to aircraft operations management
- Ensures an aircraft is operating properly along with all aircraft personnel and passengers are in adherence and compliance with all PG&E guidelines, FAA regulations, and federal, state, and local laws.
- May act as the safety officer and chairperson of the safety committee for Aviation Services.
- May acts as a representative for Aviation Services and PG&E when attending safety conferences, meetings, activities, and events.
- May be responsible for the administration of Aviation Services safety program including development, implementation, training, issue resolution, and process improvement.
- May be responsible for the data integrity, analysis, and reporting from the Safety Management System (SMS).
- May collaborate with aviation maintenance and helicopter operations to address and resolve aviation safety issues.
- May coordinate with PG&Es DOT and Regulatory Compliance, FAA, and CAL- OSHA to ensure aviation services compliance, safety program administration, and training requirements.
- May manage and evaluate data on risk assessment of aircraft services.
- May provide recommendations for policy, procedural, operational, and process improvements to aircraft operations management.
- May supervise and ensure safety training for all Aviation Services personnel.
- Provides and ensures consistent and accurate communications with passengers during pre/in/post-flight.
Supervise aircraft flight and cockpit operations and navigational functions.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Flight experience, multi-engine, 1,000 hours
- Flight experience, total flight time, 3,500 hours
- Flight experience, turbine, 1,000 hours
- FAA-Federal Aviation Administration Medical 2nd Class certification
- FAA-Federal Aviation Administration ATPL-Airline Transport Pilot with Aircraft Ratings license
Desired:
- Bachelors degree or Associates Degree
- Experience in aviation safety management
- Flight experience, corporate, 3 years
This position requires the ability to travel completely throughout PG&E's service territory and other destinations as required. Must be willing and able to annually maintain and pass a pilot-in-command proficiency ride exam within the type of aircraft operated. Required to be able to attain a clearance of ten (10) year background verification with fingerprinting for aviation security [i.e.: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Regulations: FAR].
