Brief Description
Reporting to our Sun City, Arizona facility, EPCOR USA has an internship opportunity available in our GIS department. The EPCOR GIS team manages spatial information for approximately 2,600 miles of water and 725 miles of sewer mains in the states of Arizona and New Mexico. Assistance is needed in the ongoing maintenance of the GIS data, including asset replacements and other map changes identified by field staff through redlines and work order comments in the Cityworks asset management system. This opportunity exposes the intern to editing workflows, multi-user geodatabases, SDE, ArcGIS Desktop 10.3.1, geometric networks, and ArcGIS for Server. Other duties may include such tasks as electronic file organization, GPS data collection/post-processing, plotting maps, fulfilling customer map and data requests, and entering water outage information for epcor.com online mapping.
Detailed Description
Pay rate: $16.00 per hour, this position is not eligible for benefits
Status: Temporary, part-time up to 30 hours per week with an end date on or before December 31, 2018
Schedule: Normal work hours for the GIS Team are between 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Current student or graduate in a Geography, GIS, or related field of study.
- Hands-on classwork (higher education) or professional experience using ArcGIS.
- Basic working knowledge of GIS systems and how GIS integrates with other utility-based software systems.
- Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., cooperation, teamwork, tact/diplomacy, and persuasion).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency, report writing, developing materials and presentations).
- Good quantitative skills (analytical and technical).
- Valid state issued driver's license.
- Ability to sit/stand in an office/desk for long periods of time; ability to reach, handle paperwork/files and operate computer and office equipment.
- Candidate must have ability to work in our Sun City, Arizona facility.
