Position Overview
The Fire Management Officer's duties will be focused on incident response, coordination with first responders, reporting and informing company operations, and enhancing first responder safety. They will utilize their specialized expertise, technical knowledge, and operational experience to analyze complex and dynamic situations with serious (life threatening) consequences and make recommendations that drive decision making and operations.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, responding to, and reporting on all fires affecting or having the potential to affect SCE infrastructure.
- Representing SCE during fire incidents, typically by serving as a cooperator in the fire incident management structure.
- Coordinating SCE's response to fires such as providing information to manage the bulk electric system, repair damage, restore the electric system, and safely gaining access to conduct work.
- Maintaining close working relationships with fire and emergency management agencies throughout the service territory.
- Providing actionable and timely information to Grid Operations, Transmission, Distribution, Power Production, Air Operations, Claims, and the Watch Office.
- Enhancing first responder safety by delivering Electrical Safety for First Responders Awareness Training.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical training or certification as a qualified electrical worker
- Seven years of experience in the electrical field and/or fire management
- Valid Class C California driver's license
Desired Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years of experience responding to and managing emergencies/incidents for a public agency, utility, or first responder organization (fire suppression, fire behavior, and wildland fire experience preferred)
- Experience in electric system construction, protection, and restoration
- Experience as an agency representative interacting with emergency response agencies
- Demonstrated experience educating employees, first responders, and/or the public in electrical system operations and safety
- Experience and education/knowledge in wildland firefighting and incident management is preferred
Comments
- Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- The primary work location for this position is General Office (Rosemead); however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
- Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
