Brief Description
Reporting to our Sun City, AZ office, this individual provides a variety of GIS editing, analysis, and map development services for EPCOR's buried utilities.
Detailed Description
Updates and maintains GIS databases for water and wastewater infrastructure from a variety of sources, including engineering record drawings; field sketches; GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) data; or digitally captured redlines. Works closely with Operation and Maintenance groups on developing maps/GIS products and maintaining statistics for distribution and collection system maintenance workflows. Maintains metadata for engineering record drawings in database tables. Fulfills external requests for records, from developers, engineers, or other utilities. Record requests may include electronic quarter section maps; custom maps; or electronic record drawings. Develops thematic maps using EPCOR's map templates and standard symbology, using a variety of sources, including EPCOR's water and wastewater data; street centerlines and parcels from state and local government sources; and online base mapping content and web services. Collects and/or validates utility GIS data utilizing GNSS data collectors or other mobile computing device. Post-processes data collected from GNSS units. Updates positional accuracy of GIS based on GNSS data. Supports the company on enterprise level projects through data input, analysis, mapping, or reporting. Provides technical support as needed to internal users of GIS products.
Job Requirements
Associate's Degree in technical field such as geography, GIS, urban planning, civil engineering, computer science or other related curriculum. Bachelor's Degree desirable. Must have 1 - 4 years of related GIS experience, preferably in the water/wastewater utility industry. Experience may include hands on GIS application experience through college coursework and/or internship. Experience is required with the following software: ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, Microsoft Office. Familiarity with GNNS software such as Terraysync, Trimble Positions or ArcPad, ArcGIS Online and web services is desirable. Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., cooperation, teamwork, tact/diplomacy, and persuasion). Effective written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency, report writing, developing materials and presentations). Good quantitative skills (analytical and technical). Working knowledge of GIS desktop applications and ability to think spatially is required. Knowledge of data models, geometric networks, and relational databases preferred.
