Department Overview
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) gas transmission system, formerly called California Gas Transmission, supplies all the high pressure natural gas to PG&E's gas distribution system and large non-core users in PG&E's service territory. PG&E's gas transmission also provides gas transmission to non-core customers outside of PG&E's service territory in Southern California.
Job Summary
The Maintenance Assistant I will provide clerical support to local district crew personnel for operations and maintenance with Gas System Maintenance; also provides physical support, stocking local warehouse and delivering parts including loading & unloading for workgroup. The employee may be responsible for providing support for the hazardous waste monitoring program. Per the Letter Of Agreement , the Maintenance Assistant I classification will function as a Utility Worker, Technical Maintenance or Transmission Maintenance as described in Exhibit VI-C.
Work predominantly indoors. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
Responsibilities
Listed below are job requirements for the Maintenance Assistant I classification.
An employee who, without direct supervision performs the following clerical and material duties:
- General typing, answering phones, maintaining office files, compiling manuals
- Making meeting arrangements
- Ordering stationary and office supplies
- Payroll entry (Employee Data), record keeping, and preparing reports
- Computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer training)
- Bill processing (e.g. processing job orders, fleet management/monitoring, and invoice processing, commercial card).
- Shipping, receiving, dispersal, salvage, processing materials requisitions, forklift operation, and materials delivery
- Transports supplies, materials or equipment in a pickup or passenger car
Will function and perform duties as utility worker that includes but not limited to the following:
- Yard maintenance, vehicle cleaning, fire extinguishers maintenance, weed abatement, first aid kit and eye wash inventory, tool operation and mail delivery
- Data entry into work management system SAP
- Contribute toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, reliability and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles
