Detailed Description
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety this position is accountable for collaboratively liaising with a variety of internal and external customers to support EPCOR Water Distribution and Transmission in managing operational risk and achieving its strategic Health & Safety goals.
This includes assisting workers, supervisors, managers and directors of the assigned business area in performing hazard assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, assessing compliance of field work practices to applicable legislation and internal standards, interpreting applicable Health & Safety legislation and the development of Health & Safety performance measures.
The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing input to the Manager, Health & Safety strategic work plans, initiatives, goals, and statistical targets and directions.
- Working with all levels of management and employees to facilitate the implementation and administration of the EPCOR Environmental Health & Safety Management System and to attain compliance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
- Providing consultation and assisting in work observations, workplace inspections, risk assessments, hazard analysis, job planning and incident investigations.
- Monitoring for potential or upcoming legislative and regulatory changes.
- Providing interpretation and application of Health & Safety rules, regulations and legislation to management, staff and Health & Safety Committees.
- Participating in the development of Health & Safety performance measures, interpreting results and coaching/influencing staff on how to improve performance.
- As required, acting as a subject matter expert in the creation and review of new Health & Safety training courses and protocols/procedures.
- Networking with industry peers to ascertain potential best practice for adoption into EPCOR practice and procedures.
