Description
Purpose SMUD is seeking an Entry level procurement professional to perform technical and analytical functions in a variety of procurement areas including contract planning, developing, managing and negotiating for the procurement of products and services to obtain quality products and services at favorable terms and conditions at the lowest reasonable cost while promoting and supporting SMUD's Supplier Diversity Program (SDP) within the framework of applicable laws, regulations and procedures.
SMUD is seeking an individual to support both Technology and Professional Services contracts. Experience in both is desirable.
This current vacancy is Limited Term, however, an eligibility list for both Full-time and Limited term will be created as a result of this process to fill future vacancies.

Procurement Specialist (E): The entry level and works under general supervision of the Supervising Procurement Specialist and is led by the Sr. and Journey Procurement Specialists. Individuals in this position are learning and progressively growing in responsibility for the purchase of all materials and services with the exception of Legal Services, Power Contracts, and Non-Fleet fuel, and support elements of grant portfolio administration. This level prepares small to medium contracts with supervision. The incumbent is progressed to the journey level upon demonstrating the required skills and knowledge, typically with at least three years of experience.
