General Accountabilities:
- Reporting to P&C Technical Services Manager, provide technical support with primary focus on process and workflow development and PC&T equipment settings repository access management with SAP/DATA management.
- Provide technical leadership to other divisions and , LDCs and in the field on matters relating to new design, registration, commissioning, audit and maintenance of protection, control and telecom (PC&T) equipment.
- Support the development of maintenance strategies, work programs, procedures and related tools for a wide range of PC&T equipment, systems and technology as a means of ensuring the reliability and availability PC&T systems used in the power system.
- Work with others to provide the advice, guidance and support for implementing process changes and improvements required in the PC&T functions.
- Review existing PC&T policies, procedures, work methods, standards etc. recognizing the impact of the implementation of new technologies and recommend changes to existing procedures, tools and training requirements to ensure maintainability of these systems.
- Perform special studies, to analyze maintenance results and defect reports and recommend changes to the maintenance program to ensure adequate performance of PC&T systems, when assigned.
- Monitor equipment performance and compliance with regulatory requirements. Investigate problems and initiate corrective action.
- Assist in field work of a highly technical nature or in emergency situations.
- Visit field locations and participate as necessary to ensure protection, control and telecom equipment is
- functioning, as required.
- Review standards and designs to ensure that they meet maintainability, operability and security criteria.
- Cooperate and work with supply procurement groups and with external suppliers to resolve problems with PC&T equipment and to establish vendor support for products and services.
- Maintain an expert knowledge of the latest developments and technology in the field of PC&T systems and propose cost effective ways in which these can be managed and maintained.
- Represent the department on internal and external technical and review committees, as required.
- Develop, prepare and deliver training courses, as assigned, on PC&T equipment and systems.
- Occasionally, assign work, provide advice and guidance and then ensure the accuracy and quality of work output of temporary or rotational personnel. Assist with the development of technical staff, as required.
- Provide advice and guidance for programs to replace or rehabilitate end of life PC&T equipment.
- Assist in developing and administering annual work programs and budgets.
- Make recommendations and provide support for updates to information systems and maintenance programs when equipment is added or modified.
- Ensure information systems are updated properly when changes are required.
- Provide input to Spares Strategy for PC&T equipment. Initiate contingency plans for sparing obsolete equipment. Monitor usage and make recommendations to optimize the spares' inventory levels to ensure availability and to reduce costs.
- Perform other duties as required.

Essential Competencies:

Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Professional Electrical Engineer.
- Six to eight years of experience in the specification, manufacturing, commissioning and/or maintenance fields related to PC&T systems.
- Familiarity with NERC and CIP regulations, with how HONI internalizes them, and other industry best practices with respect to field workflows with respect to data compliance.
- Have a clear understanding of existing policies, procedures, work methods, regulatory requirements and design standards etc. for applicable equipment as required to review, recommend or prepare new changes to these.
- Ability to recognize the impact of the implementation of new technologies and recommend changes to existing procedures, tools and training requirements to ensure cost effective and efficient maintainability of these systems.
- Ability to provide the technical support for implementing new process changes, initiatives and improvements required for PC&T functions and related systems.
- Must have an expert knowledge of the latest developments and technology in the field of PC&T systems and be able to propose cost effective ways in which these can be managed and maintained.
- Ability to specify equipment for maintenance projects and to manage projects with manufacturers and field staff.
- Must be able to deal with difficult and complex problems encountered when determining new design, commissioning and maintenance concepts to solve problems not previously encountered, or when developing new design standards resulting from innovative use of equipment and facilities or advancing technology.
- Good interpersonal skills to be able to establish respect and rapport with (field) staff and project an air of assertiveness and confidence with consistency of approach.
- Requires occasionally assigning work/areas of responsibility, providing advice and guidance as necessary and ensuring the quality and accuracy of output for staff assigned periodically on work projects.
- Requires assisting in the development of PC&T Technical staff.
- Requires use of SAP to initiate, review and complete work and to perform analysis of maintenance and defect reporting.
- Requires working on assignments with an outline of instructions, requirements, methods, nature and scope of work.
- Periodic checks of work are required through reports, conclusions, and recommendations' for approval with reference to Sr. PC&T Technical Coordinator occurring only for unusual problems or to Manager those requiring authoritative decisions.
