To support Emera's growth as an energy leader, this newly defined role is critical to the success of Emera Internal Audit. Reporting to the Emera Senior Director, Internal Audit, you will be responsible for leading Emera's SOx/NI 52-109 Compliance Program.
Accountabilities:
As the successful candidate, you will work closely with Finance and other various business leaders throughout the Emera group of companies. You will oversee Emera's SOx/NI 52-109 internal controls framework and support the annual testing and documentation compliance effort.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead Emera's comprehensive SOx/NI5 Compliance Program and provide technical expertise in an advisory/consultation capacity.
- Manage a professional audit team (including external consultants/contractors) and provide ongoing leadership/mentorship to team members responsible for ongoing evaluation, testing and certification activities.
- Collaborate and work directly with process owners, business leaders and external auditors regarding testing activities, issue identification, change events and remediation activities; gaining consensus regarding potentially contentious or sensitive items.
- Proactively monitor major changes in business processes and systems impacting Emera's SOx/NI5 Compliance Program and provide guidance and advisory support.
- Monitor remediation associated with previously identified issues; provide ongoing consultation on remediation approach; and escalate concerns/presenting status to senior leadership.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience:
- Postgraduate degree or designation (e.g. CPA, P.Eng, Masters, etc.), complemented by an audit/risk certification (e.g. CIA, CRMA, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of audit concepts and techniques as well as a broad understanding of enterprise-risk, corporate governance and process and control design.
- Experience leading ICFR Programs within a dynamic, complex organizational structure.
- Experience implementing internal control programs, financial and operational processes while considering strategic objectives and broad implications.
- A minimum of ten years in an Audit, Finance or Project/Risk Management role, including three in a senior finance or audit leadership role.
- Experience providing process improvement and risk-based control design consultation with proven ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions.
- Proven ability to remain focused and deliver results in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment.
- Strong influencing, communication, analytical and decision-making skills with ability to work inclusively with various individuals to achieve shared objective and maintain effective business relationships.
