BOP Operator
The Balance of Plant (BOP) Operator is responsible for the plant's water and fire protection systems and ensures that the plant's chemical limits are maintained and complied with.
Additional responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of any type of work permits that may be needed in the plant.
- Operate and line up equipment. All operators are expected to be familiar and knowledgeable on all equipment and associated systems that are necessary to operate/maintain the Balance of Plant (BOP) area.
- Conduct plant rounds. Comprehensive inspection of the plant equipment during rounds is expected and observations listed in operating logs for abnormal conditions.
- Maintain Area housekeeping and share in general Plant cleanliness efforts.
- Maintain a safe work environment. Contribute and report concerns and plant safety deficiencies at meetings. Generate near miss and incident reports for the same items.
- Initiate repairs and maintenance work. If equipment or consumables are required, purchase order requests are to be initiated and tracked to ensure that the work is efficiently performed.
- Manage contractors during plant outages and/or special projects.
- Enter work requests into the plant CMMS system.
- Support the goals outlined in the Shady Point Organizational Charter. Participate in company and team objectives. Be supportive of corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Support the Plant on a temporary or emergency basis as required in other qualified fields.
- Participate and be knowledgeable in compliance activities as associated with environmental/Safety regulations and permits.
- General operational maintenance is expected.
- Assist in the training efforts of other operators.
- Functional knowledge of SAP.
- Meet or exceed performance expectations provide by Plant Leadership.
Qualifications Required
Education:
High school education or equivalent is required.
Professional Experience:
Experience working in a cogeneration or power plant environment is preferred.
Possesses clear verbal communication skills in English.
Experience in industrial chemical analysis preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, and Other Requirements:
Prefer strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills.
Must pass pre-employment drug tests.
The Balance of Plant (BOP) Operators are required to perform tasks that require a significant amount of physical ability, dexterity, flexibility and cognitive thinking. The tasks can be highly technical in a field where safety demands the highest degree of focus and effort to avoid injury.
