YOUR OPPORTUNITY:

 

Reporting to the Manager, Control Systems, you will define overall EIM goals and objectives, and have a major impact on the direction and development of engineering information management best practices.

The Engineering Information Management team maintains and administers the engineering tools for Horizon Oils Sands. It ensures the engineering information is deployed effectively throughout site

To support the growth of Canadian Natural's Horizon Oil Sands, this position may be assigned or require business travel to various contractor workplaces or to the Horizon Oil Sands site during project phases for extended periods.

This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and is eligible for:

  • Relocation to Calgary

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

  • Directly impact and influence the cost of operations, and data retention, use and re-use within Canadian Natural and Horizon
  • Manage EIM costs, schedules, human resources, communication, quality, risk assessment, change, integration, continuous improvement, and be accountable for the data for the life cycle and project execution cycles for Horizon Oil Sands
  • Direct processes, policies, and procedures to achieve overall EIM goals and objectives
  • Lead and support EIM Coordinators as part of the EIM Leadership team
  • Align engineering information deliverables with Canadian Natural business requirements and policies
  • Ensure EIM governing documents are prioritized and comply with Canadian Natural corporate policies and establish capital and operating budgets
  • Implement control processes for budget maintenance and controlled expenditures
  • Lead negotiations with software vendors, service providers, and data acquisitions for best value
  • Develop schedule processes and procedures for EIM-specific activities to ensure overall schedules are met
  • Define staff and skill type capability requirements and resolve performance issues
  • Organize EIM structure for optimum results and continuous service delivery
  • Ensure EIM roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities are clearly defined
  • Define quality commitments, processes and requirements
  • Align with Albian EIM team, to support a consistent Direction, Strategy, Technology Road Map and Management Support
  • Maintain positive vendor alliances and relationships and foster relationships with Canadian Natural internal customers and departments

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of experience working in the engineering field. Experience using electronic design/drafting tools is necessary. Supervisory experience over a group of designer/drafters is required.
  • Post-secondary degree or related Technology diploma.
  • Ability to delegate/prioritize technical group activities
  • Exceptional problem solving and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to complete job accountabilities on time and on budget
  • Highly motivated and self-managed
