As a Field Facilities Engineer for our Primrose and Wolf Lake Oil Sands project, you will be part of a team responsible for providing onsite technical support to production, operations and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with a demonstrated track record of executing high quality work within a thermal facility.
This position is located at our Wolf Lake Plant near Bonnyville/Cold Lake AB. This role is eligible for:
Relocation to Bonnyville or Cold Lake areas

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
- Provide on-site technical support to CNRL's thermal heavy oil projects.
- Ensure plant and field equipment and processes are optimized to maximize equipment capacities and minimize operating costs;
- Provide on-site mechanical and process technical support to Operations and Maintenance groups;
- Monitor plant and equipment performance and reliability to identify opportunities for improvement;
- Provide mentorship to EIT's in the group;
- Identify and quantify the value of upgrade / optimization opportunities;
- Coordinate the design and construction of identified upgrades associated with CNRL's thermal heavy oil projects. This may include all phases of the project from developing and approving design, sizing equipment, cost estimating, economics, and managing construction and cost control through to project completion;
- Assist with scoping and design review of larger Capital projects that are coordinated by the Calgary Facilities Engineering group. Ensure adherence to development goals, operational experience, and equipment specifications and standards;
- Ensure all existing facilities and new construction projects comply with regulatory requirements; and
- Work with Thermal Exploration and Exploitation groups to review development issues and plans and perform evaluations of facilities to best meet those goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Typically 5+ years of industry experience in a Facility Engineer position with Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Professional Engineer or eligibility for registration as a P.ENG with APEGA
- Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Heavy oil treating, water treating, steam generation and heat integration
- Safety and design standards and environmental regulations
- Design and operation of Thermal production facilities
