Southern Nuclear, headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, construction of two new reactors is ongoing at our Plant Vogtle location . Nuclear Planning Specialist - Plant Hatch

The Nuclear Planning Specialist develops maintenance plans, packages and work orders used to support a wide variety of maintenance tasks including: preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and modifications. The successful candidate will be adept at standard Microsoft Office Suite computer tools and must be able to quickly learn new programs used for planning, scheduling and reporting.

The Nuclear Planning Specialist will walk-down work; research history; consult drawings, manuals and procedures; and develop detailed plans. This position requires good communication skills, primarily with maintenance workers, management, Engineering, Operations, and vendors, as well as excellent customer service. Shift work will be required at times in support of refueling outages. Call out duties will occur on a rotational basis. Emergency Preparedness (EP) duties may be required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Associate / Bachelor / Master degree is a plus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of nuclear power plant or Nuclear Navy experience is required.

  • Experience with Maximo (maintenance management software) is required.

  • Nuclear Planning Specialist qualification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Well organized and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Able to work in any environment demanded of the workforce, including temperature extremes and elevations.

  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and technical specifications is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of plant systems, structures, and components is preferred.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Maximo) is required.
