Description
Purpose
To provide technical leadership and hands-on support in a broad range of information technology areas including the planning, design, development, installation, integration, and enhancement of SMUD's enterprise and departmental systems and applications using Software AG webMethods Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform enterprise level technical design and development of quality integration solutions utilizing SMUD's webMethods ESB integration platform and toolset 
  • Provide hands-on support of SMUD's web services, API framework and enterprise application infrastructure utilizing industry best practices for middleware development 
  • Effectively prioritize and balance technical project efforts and required application production support and process improvement initiatives to meet   project schedule commitments while keeping existing systems and integration solutions running effectively 
  • Provide expert technical knowledge in the use of enterprise middleware development tools/languages, object oriented application design, and enterprise application environment architecture 
  • Perform hands-on integration development and troubleshooting of SMUD's technical solutions to ensure quality solutions are delivered according to SMUD and industry best practices 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience:  3+ years of progressively responsible relevant work experience as a webMethods developer in the area of day-to-day design, development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of N-Tier enterprise integrations. 
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Computer Science, MIS, or related field or equivalent experience (7 total years)
  • Integration experience with Software AG webMethods suite - utilizing web services and Enterprise Service Bus toolsets
  • 2 years of experience with Software AG Web Methods 9.x
  • Experience integrating enterprise and departmental applications using a variety of protocols and toolsets
  • Expert technical knowledge of and experience with enterprise system integration  technologies including:
    • Web Methods Tools and Languages: Integration Server, UM, MWS, Optimize, Insight, Wm Deployer, Java Services, Developer Workstation, Wm TestSuite
    • Database development technologies and platforms including: relational database design, development, and performance considerations, stored procedures, SQL expertise.
    • Experience architecting and sustaining complex n-tier enterprise infrastructure and network topologies
    • Principles of systems analysis, design, development, and support 
  • Strong background and wide breadth of knowledge  related to concepts, methods, programming languages, and tools for development, integration, and support of enterprise middleware, custom web based, and client/server based applications 
  • Solid understanding and experience with software development lifecycle, change management, and system reengineering processes and best practices 
  • Willingness to: attend on-the-job or offsite training; work extended hours as workload and deadlines require; be on-call to respond to emergencies; and attend meetings and make formal presentations as necessary.
