Description
This is an 8 month co-op term with an approximate end date of December 21, 2018.
The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.
ResponsibilitiesThe work will primarily consist of assisting in various assignments related to the pipeline in-line inspection (ILI) analysis, such as:
- Assessing, correlating, analyzing, managing records and performing statistical analyses on various ILI data sets;
- Researching and developing ILI analysis procedures;
- Recommending process improvements and ensuring compliance to company and industry codes and standards; and
- Providing support for other pipeline integrity management activities and assessments, as required.
Requirements
- Third or Fourth year Computer/Software Engineering Student, or Data Analytics program in Computer Science
- Experience with designing relational database using Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with data mining and data visualization
- Experience or knowledge with Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), statistical analysis and/or data management tools;
- Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; and
- Valid BC driver's license (or other provincial equivalent)
