Duties:

The Emergency Preparedness Manager will support delivery of the emergency management program with business units across BC Hydro and provide subject matter expertise and coordination during incidents. The role will also support company-wide emergency planning, training, exercising and corrective action planning. In this role you are seen as the subject matter expert in all areas of BC Hydro's emergency management program, the successful candidate will be capable of demonstrating excellent knowledge in the field of Emergency Management; including hazard and vulnerability analysis, risk management, regulatory and legislated requirements, technology and industry trends.

The successful candidate will:

* Work with Business Groups to identify hazards and threats and outline strategies for prevention, mitigation and response.

* Develop Business Group emergency plans, aligning and/or integrating them with existing procedures and plans as required.

* Assist in development and delivery of training and exercising.

* Assess need for specialized external training for Business Group staff.

* Recommend and assess staff performance in assigned event response roles.

* Document and implement required changes resulting from lessons learned, debrief or after action reports.

* Support readiness of Emergency Centres (EOC).

* Respond to emergency incidents and events as per assigned response role.

* Advance the use of emergency management tools, technologies and communications systems.

* Support emergency management initiatives, projects and regulatory compliance.

* Work with Business Continuity as required ensuring Business Group meets requirements for continued delivery of critical services to the organization.

* Develop budget requirements to deliver emergency management program responsibilities.

* Identify need for external resources (e.g. consultants for project work). Manage external resources when utilized.

* Contribute to emergency management business reporting.

* Identify gaps in emergency management program and make recommendations for improvements.

* Develop and deliver presentations as Emergency Management subject matter expert as required. Attend conferences and/or required training for professional development. Represent BC Hydro as required at external Emergency Management meetings.

* Demonstrate a high degree of commitment to being personally prepared for a major emergency.
