Overview
Willbros Construction Canada is looking for a competent Excavator Operator with hotline experience. Heavy equipment operator responsibilities are carried out by a skilled person who does this job with safety and precision. He/she also has the responsibility of cleaning, maintaining and servicing the equipment. Willbros Canada requires their operators to possess plenty of experience, training and knowledge of machines and maintaining their parts. Successful candidates must possess the mechanical skills to perform his/her job in a strenuous and dangerous work environment. One must have these skills and responsibilities and should be completely trained to perform the job duties.

Responsibilities
The Excavator Operator is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Operate the excavator/hoe and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary
- Work with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on line and grade
- Ensure trench is excavated to proper depth / grade
- Responsible for placement of culvert, pipe and tools in the excavation
- Follow directions of ground crew regarding craning, material placement and grading
- Cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to ensure production is on schedule
- Conduct trench work, which meets OH&S requirements
- Operate excavator / hoe maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
- Be aware of proper rigging and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the excavator / hoe
- Ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company's code of ethics at all times
- Examine all situations in light of the principles of the code of ethics
- Operate the equipment in the right direction and angle to prevent accidents and damage of property
- Perform road work, excavation work, lifting work, etc.
- Report to the foreman
- Perform other duties, as and when assigned
It is the responsibility of the excavator operator to cease all work when the contract quantity has been reached and await written authorization for any work outside of or beyond the original contract.
