Overview

Start Date: March 2018

Provides project management /contractual/financial support and coordination to moderately complex technical project (s). Duties may include project schedule management, tracking annual fiscal plans and monthly updates, maintenance and reporting, contract administration, purchasing, facility coordination, and weekly status reporting and contract accounting and reporting,. Maintains contract budgets, prepares contract-billing, estimates materials, equipment, production costs and delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budget development, progress measurement, cost forecasting and preparing monthly internal and client cost reports for assigned project(s).
  • Implement cost estimating methodologies for each cost element / WBS, and estimate the man hours, material costs, and other project costs.
  • Reconcile actual costs against project forecast and budget.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedule using current project systems tool (such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.)
  • Interface, as needed with client representatives to communicate and receive schedule update information.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Prepare project cost reports including budgets, actuals and forecast of remaining costs.
  • Responsible for completing project change order procedure and log.
  • Prepare internal cost reports for management on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare various spreadsheet reports for project management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (considered an asset, but not required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in, Construction Management, Engineering, or Accounting/ Finance or related fields
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

Experience:

  • 5 to 7 years progressive responsibility project controls, construction management or related function.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience working within the engineering and construction services industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Intermediate knowledge of project management principles.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office products
  • Proficiency in accounting and reporting software systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Understands the organizational implications of work assignments and decisions.
  • Ability to discover ideas and recommend solutions.
  • Well organized & Detail oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain "why" and "how" to do something within a broader organizational focus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Advocate of team concept.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive - but be able to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities.
  • Able to interact with all levels of management.

Job Details:

  • 7 days on 7 days off work rotation, 12 hour days
  • Flights provided to CNRL from Edmonton or Calgary
  • Camp accommodations provided.
