Description
This position reports to the Supervisor, High Voltage. Preference is for a fully qualified Substation Technician. To be considered at the Apprentice level, candidates must possess a minimum of a Technician diploma and be actively pursuing a C.E.T. designation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Construct, commission and maintain Substation equipment on customer owned premises
- Troubleshoot, rebuild, repair and maintain SCADA systems
- Program and troubleshoot protection relays
- Perform switching activities on the power grid
- Read and interpret control and protection schematics
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Certified Technician diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and C.Tech. designation. CETwould be an asset
- Certified Substation Electrician (MEA)
- 309A Licenced Electrician would be an asset.
- A passing grade on the Theory Qualifying Test is a prerequisite for the Apprentice Level
- Strong electronics background with proven experience or education in microprocessors and data communications
- Familiarity with WHMIS as it applies to maintenance procedures
- Sound knowledge of current Ontario Electrical Safety Codes
- Proficiency in general computer skills
- Excellent physical health with ability to spend extended periods working outside in extremes of temperature and capacity for manual labour
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven excellent customer service capabilities
- Valid "G" driver's license and excellent driving record.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a crew in a team oriented environment
- First aid training would be an asset
