A Lead Analyst in the Transmission Trading team is responsible for managing Vistra Energy's financial and physical transmission congestion risk. Financially, by performing analysis to support and make trading decisions in the long-term and monthly CRR/FTR auctions, as well as in Day Ahead and Real Time markets. Moreover, this position also identifies necessary changes in the topology, temporary or long term, to alter the power flows to avoid congestion that affect Vistra Energy's assets. A Lead Analyst also participates actively in the identification and execution of speculative trades in the CRR auction and Day Ahead Market. This position interacts with other teams such as QSE Operations, Power Trading & Structuring and Corporate Development. This position is for coverage in one or more of the following ISOs: ERCOT, PJM, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO or CAISO.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform congestion analysis and price forecasting to effectively manage Vistra Energy's generation deliverability risk for short, mid and long term through financial instruments such as CRR/FTR and PTP/UTC and physical methods such as Switching Actions and/or Transmission Additions to be proposed to the pertinent ISO stakeholder group
- Identify opportunities for speculative CRR/FTRs and DAM PTP/UTC or Virtual trades by assessing the performance of the electric grid in the near and long term
- Provide transmission risk Point-Of View to groups such as Power Trading, Origination and Development for commercial operations and Regulatory to improve the performance of the market and reliability of the system
- Develop and maintain fundamental Power Systems, Production Cost and other market simulation models for power and CRR/FTR/PTP/UTC trading
- Develop and maintain technical models with proprietary advanced algorithms
- This position is for coverage in one or more of the following ISOs: ERCOT, PJM, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO or CAISO
