Brief Description
The Senior Advisor EEA Regulatory is accountable for planning and coordinating the compilation, filing, defence and implementation of EEA regulatory applications.
This includes supervising the work of and managing the work flow across the regulatory affairs work team, corporate shared service work teams and BU work teams preparing the financial, operational and technical aspects of regulatory applications and establishing, maintaining and managing relationships across these departments.
The Senior Advisor EEA Regulatory is accountable to the Senior Manager EEA Regulatory and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by the Senior Manager EEA Regulatory.
Detailed Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager EEA Regulatory, this position is accountable for but not limited to:
- Providing input to the Senior Manager EEA Regulatory plans and directions
- Ensuring an appropriate understanding of the EEA and Senior Manager EEA Regulatory strategy throughout Senior Advisors
- Ensuring optimal deliverables through effective cross-functional accountability and authority practices.
- Ensuring on-going effective positioning and appropriate relationships between other positions in Regulatory Affairs, EEA and in EUI.
- Identifying the necessary budget requirements for the provision of preparing and filing of regulatory applications.
- Developing, implementing and reviewing Senior Advisor processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.
- Recommending and developing revisions to procedures/work processes and create solutions for optimal service delivery.
- Planning and coordinating the development of all components of regulatory applications relating to the provision of Energy Services such as:
- EEA non-energy
- Energy Price Setting Plan
- Compiling and editing application narrative and supporting materials submitted by Business Unit managers and specialists ensuring that the regulatory application is consistent, accurate, understandable and adheres to the agreed strategy and regulatory principles.
- Applying specialized professional knowledge to ensure innovative results and act as a subject matter expert providing specialized advice on regulatory matters.
- Intervening in related facilities proceedings to support EPCOR's and EEA's positions.
- Coordinating the preparation of information responses, undertakings, written argument and reply.
- Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or Accounting designation or equivalencies will be considered.
- 5-8 years of experience in a utility industry.
- 5-8 years of experience in regulatory, accounting or finance environment.
- Good understanding of Alberta industry structure, regulatory, environment and policy development.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong understanding of finance & accounting principles.
- Strong quantitative & analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills in particular excel spreadsheets
