Description
Corix Utilities operates the OU campus utility systems including the Central Heat, Chilled Water and Power Plants, potable water distribution, wastewater collection, natural gas and electrical distribution. The GIS intern will implement a sustainable GIS mapping program for the entire utility systems located on the University of Oklahoma campus on Jenkins Ave.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will perform data collection duties in regards to locating utility equipment and mapping utility locations throughout the University of Oklahoma campus.
- Research and update existing utility maps and related data to include projected utility data for future use by utilizing GIS software.
- Will lead the efforts in establishing a defined mapping documentation process
- Assist the management team in establishing a completed GIS mapping system for current and future use.
- Will perform duties in the field and office environment.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a student in a Bachelors program in Geography or a related major
- Familiarity with ArcGIS software, GPS data collection and GPS data entry is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong oral and written skills and the ability to read, write, and follow and complete written instructions.
- Strong Microsoft office suite and GIS mapping skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in a professional manner.
