Description
We're currently looking for an Estimator to join our team in Salem, IL.
Major Job Elements:
- Develop cost estimates for Overhead, Underground, Substation and Transmission Power projects to support Central Region business operations.
- Attend bid meetings and establish cost estimates for labor, equipment, sub-contractors and materials required to complete high voltage power line projects.
- Assemble and return completed bid packages to customers.
- 100% of the time is needed for this position.
- Ability to work with schedulers after estimate development.
- Ability to develop cost tracking methods for awarded projects.
- Ability to develop change order cost adjustments in line with project scope changes.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Review proposal specifications/drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Coordinate total estimating effort for all assigned projects.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-ups for estimate figures. Follow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits; procuring material, etc.
- May review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Review final estimate packages with operations personnel prior to formal quotation to insure accuracy and completeness.
- Facilitate contract handoff to PM / Operations. Includes job cost tracking set-up, development of revenue recognition units and productivity analysis reporting.
- Travel to various locations throughout the Central Region for bid meetings, team estimate support, and bid reviews as necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Four year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience required.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Primavera, P6 is a plus.
- Experience in estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to transmission and/or substation construction.
- Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
- Knowledge and ability to work with data base estimating software as well as Word, Excel, and other MS Office products.
- B2W estimating software knowledge a plus.
- Travel required as needed for the job.
