Position Summary

The Team Lead will manage analysts responsible for determining accurate classification data (HTS, ECCN, COO) according to RA policies and global Customs laws and regulations and will ensure communication of those classifications to other team(s) and team members globally.    Team Lead will manage projects and assist in developing training and auditing plans to support continuous improvement of the existing compliance program.    Through an understanding of both compliance processes and information systems, this position will act as a liaison between the classification group and RA business units, logistics, sourcing, legal and other Rockwell entities globally.  They exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functional:

  • Possess expertise in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule on a global level in accordance with U.S. Customs laws, local country laws and WCO rules and regulations.
  • Excellent planning, communication, organizational and development skills
  • Assist in the development of department work instructions to ensure timely classifications of Rockwell Automation products.
  • Strong knowledge of RA import/export operations globally
  • Act resourcefully to ensure that work is completed within specified time and quality parameters
  • Strong knowledge in determining Harmonized Tariff Codes, US ECCN, & COO for Rockwell Automation products and third party equipment. 
  • Must have a clear understanding of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and the Commerce Control List as well as local country export control laws.

Leadership:

  • The Team Lead will look for solutions to conflicts that may arise between Rockwell Automation business units and compliance with policy and procedure as well as Customs Laws and regulations. 
  • Provide support and guidance to Rockwell Automation business units and subsidiaries globally on import/export classification related issues. 
  • Provide advice to analysts on development and career goals

 Interpersonal

  • The Team Lead will assist the US Classification team in developing and implementing business processes and procedures that comply with the Rockwell Automation corporate global policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the willingness to work well in a team environment.
  • Interact and collaborate with all compliance functions at Rockwell Automation (Global Trade Compliance, US Import Compliance, US Export Operations, and Regional Compliance/Logistics contacts).

 Business 

  • Ensures compliance with Rockwell Automation global policies and procedures.
  • Drives continuous results for department metrics.
  • Achieves goals and objectives in line with Rockwell Automation Strategic Framework.
Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree (B.A.) in Business, Operations, Logistics Supply Chain or Technical related field.
  
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five years of proven International Export/Import Compliance experience.  This would include classification of products, working directly with US and foreign Customs agencies, Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders. 
  • Prior experience with managing of people and projects.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of Office 365, Outlook, & SAP is preferred.
