CenterPoint Energy is looking for Analyst GIS Programmer to join our Continuous Improvement Team, located in Evansville, IN or Houston, TX

You will have the ability to: be responsible for building and maintaining the GIS solutions and processes to meet the growing electric and gas utility business requirements and troubleshooting production issues and applying the fixes.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Understand and analyze the business requirements from product owners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements to fulfill business requirements and in accord to CNP development and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with developers and specialists in conceptualizing, developing, testing, and maintaining GIS solutions and software in support of CNP Electric and Gas operations.
  • Work with GIS support staff, system administrators and/or external vendors to resolve production issues.
  • Write clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code, and produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Work under technical leads to conduct proof-of-concept research on new technologies for future endeavors.
  • Perform Emergency Operating Plan (EOP) assignments that may require extended days and include challenging field conditions to assist utility restoration efforts.

Your background includes:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications or a related discipline from an accredited college, university.
  • Requires 3 years of related experience, including:
          Overall applications programming experience.
           Database development in Oracle 12g with PL/SQL
           Custom web, desktop, and mobile GIS applications development:
      • ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Arc Objects, ArcGIS.   
      • Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online.
      • Schneider Arc FM.
      • Scripting with Python, ArcPy and Windows commands or PowerShell.
      • Web Services and Application Development using C#, .Net Framework, MVC, Web API, WCF, and Entity Framework.
      • Web development using JavaScript/HTML5/CSS, Dojo. Angular and Typescript are a big plus.
