The government has published the first quarterly progress report on the action plan it developed in response to recommendations identified in the review of NB Power.
Seven recommendations are now complete, including regional energy co-operation between New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (recommendations 11 and 12) and project evaluation and approval for the Belledune Generating Station, which advances planning for the facility's future (recommendation 31).
"I am pleased to see the early gains being made in implementing the recommendations identified in the comprehensive review of NB Power," said Energy Minister René Legacy. "I encourage New Brunswickers to follow this meaningful work closely as we focus on positioning NB Power to meet New Brunswick's long-term energy needs."
The 50 recommendations from the review are listed on the government's website under eight outcomes, but people can filter information based on implementation phase or status, or by searching for keywords.
The review, which was launched in April 2025, followed years of rising electricity costs and growing concern from New Brunswickers about affordability and spikes in bills. It focused on four areas: financial sustainability, governance and utility structure, customer expectations, and investor attractiveness and strategic partnerships.
The next update will be published in late December or early January.
